The automotive dealers have 185,670 jobs at an hourly and annual mean wages of $20.59 and $42,830, respectively. The highest wages are with local government at an hourly and annual mean wage of $21.94 and $45,640, respectively.

Florida has the fourth highest number of jobs with 35,150. These jobs pay an hourly mean wage of $18.05 and annual mean wage of $37,550. Among the metropolitan areas, Punta Gorda has 340 jobs and pays a mean hourly wage of $16.59 and mean annual wage of $34,510.in Tampa, the median wage is $32,012 and the mechanics that fall between the 10th and 25th percentile earn salaries between $24,005 and $27,821. Those earning higher than the median salary form the 75th and the 90th percentile earning $37,217 and $41,953, respectively. In Jacksonville, the median wage is $32,522. Those that earned less than the median fall between the 10th and the 25th percentile and earn between $24,387 and $28,264. Those that earn above the median fall between the 75th and the 90th percentile earn anywhere between $37,808 and $42,621. In Miami, the median wage is $33,262. The tenth percentile is paid $24,942 and the 25th percentile is paid $28,907. The highest wage is $43,591 and this is paid to the 90th percentile of automotive technicians.

The best automotive technician jobs go to the well trained and certified employee. These certifications are granted by National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, and the ASE certified technician is in great demand.
