 Dear friends,
 
Today Harish Dhawan of PUDR and I went to AIIMS during visiting hours to see if Sodi was still there post-operation. She is, but now AIIMS security has been added to the list of security personnel intent on stopping us from meeting her. We asked one AIIMS security guard, who was a nice-ish person, if she was indeed still there and he said yes, with husband and 1/2 other unidentified men. These guards stopped us before we could even enter the floor Sodi was on.

Yesterday, a team of women - including Kalpana Mehta (Saheli), Indira
Chakravarthi, Dr. Ajitha, Kaveri, journalist Tusha Mittal, Kavita Krishnan
(AIPWA) and Arundhati Roy tried to meet Sodi. AIIMS security were proactive
and aggressive in preventing us from even entering the building.

Amnesty International urges authorities in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh to immediately free Sodi Sambo, an adivasi woman and eyewitness to the extrajudicial executions of nine adivasis in Gompad village on 1 October 2009. She is a petitioner in the ongoing case at the Supreme Court seeking an impartial investigation into the killings.
