11 Dec 2009 Human rights activist Kopa Kunjam who was arrested by police yesterday has been charged with murder of Salwa Judum leader Punem Honga , whose life Kopa actually tried to save . Kopa raised Matwada massacre case, Singaram massacre, and exposed many lacunae and frauds in the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(NREGA), Integrated Child Development Services(ICDS) and Public Distribution System(PDS). |

A note from Himanshu Kumar 11 Dec 2009Advocate Alban Topo who was also picked up with our senior tribal activist Kopa Kunjam yesterday by policemen in plainclothes was released this morning. He was badly beaten up.
Kopa Kunjam is still in police custody in Bijapur and has also been beaten up very badly. He is unable to breathe properly.
