The Indian state and its ruling elite are gearing up for yet another pageant to celebrate 15th of August which marks the day when the English bourgeoisie were replaced by their Indian counterparts 62 years ago. Admittedly this change in skin color among the people deciding the fate of close to a billion people was a marked improvement, since the famines that would periodically ravage the Indian countryside and that ended up claiming the lives of close to 30 million people cumulatively and bringing untold suffering and starvation to the vast majority of the population, are now a relic of the past.
